This course enhances the emotional intelligence or empathy quotient (E.Q.) skills of educators to prevent burnout and bolster their resilience toolkits. As we strengthen our individual emotional muscles, we concurrently reflect on areas where we find ourselves most challenged in our interpersonal and institutional relationships. This ongoing mindful reflection, coupled with practicing exercises for proficiency, allows us to show up in more present, empathetic, authentic, and expansive ways. By converging the self-awareness and social-awareness required to develop our E.Q., we prepare ourselves to adjust, adapt, and thrive even under the most challenging of circumstances. We learn how to find, cultivate, protect, and sustain the energy necessary for building the collective efficacy necessary to improve student learning outcomes.
