In our third course, we teach culturally responsive interpersonal and instructional practices to address academic disparities. As authentic leaders with a sharpened E.Q., culturally responsive teachers are ready to interweave brain science with social science to expand their toolkits. We also know that it is our responsibility to learn about our students’ cultures and communities. As evolving agents of change, we continuously reflect on our beliefs, ideologies, and biases and know that by taking an honest look at our areas for growth, we become ready to try new approaches for meeting the needs of students who have not yet found success in school. With an empowered mindset, we bolster our classrooms with the pedagogy and practices for supporting all students to thrive.Â
